The Best Natural Dietary Supplements

What are you missing in your diet?

Dietary supplements are not extremely necessary for a perfect diet. Unfortunately, being perfect is an obsession today even when it comes to our diet. Therefore, high-quality nutritional supplements are a good solution to give the body what it misses all too often in today’s normal diet. Here we talk about the best natural dietary supplements which are important.

What type of nutritional supplement are you?

How is it in your kitchen? Can you barely accommodate real food because of food supplements? Are tables and cupboards full of cans, vials, and jars – filled with power pills, lucky tablets?  Does your refrigerator have no natural dietary supplements?

Or maybe you stick with a single special nutritional supplement of the brand “All-in-one”, which you make you feel that you would not have to eat anything anymore? Or do you possibly belong to the dietary supplement-are-completely-superfluous fraction?

If you still want a brief introduction about vitamins and minerals then read our article here.

Do we need dietary supplements or is the natural supplement sufficient?

Even if you are taking foods full of nutrients, you may want to take dietary supplements. But if you are getting enough vitamins and minerals from the best natural dietary supplements, then it’s completely optional.

But you may also lack the time or expertise required to obtain and prepare the right meals. For vitamin D, you may just be living in the wrong climate zone and for other minerals, many foods with nutrition don’t really hit our taste buds. They are therefore about as popular as the lawn-mowing neighbor on Sunday mornings at eight.

Long story short, natural dietary supplements are not only important, healthy, and almost irreplaceable, they are simply practical. Let’s start with vitamin D, the strengthening, and bone-stabilizing sun vitamin.

Vitamin D

Sun is one of the best natural supplements for Vitamin D. Together with calcium and vitamin K, vitamin D keeps our bones and teeth strong and stable, protects from sun allergy in summer, and flu death in winter. Calcium cannot be absorbed from the intestine if vitamin D is lacking, which can lead to all the problems associated with calcium deficiency.

This includes not only long-term bone and tooth problems but also muscle problems. Vascular muscles can lead to circulatory disorders, dizziness, and permanent headache, neck pain, back pain, whole-body pain. If the heart muscle is affected, there are chances of heart failure.

Even heartburn can show up as a result of a vitamin D deficiency, namely when the smooth muscles of the digestive system suffer from calcium deficiency and then no longer function properly. Many other health problems, including autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis, are now linked to Vitamin D deficiency.

Fortunately, our body produces vitamin D on its own – with the help of solar radiation in the skin. But it only does this if the skin actually gets sunlight at regular intervals.

Since many people nowadays spend the majority of their time in the office, university, school, workshop, etc., millions of people suffer from a significant vitamin D deficiency.

The situation gets worse in winter, especially in the temperate zone. There, in the light-poor months – even if it shines – the sun doesn’t even have the strength to stimulate the formation of vitamin D in our skin.

Vitamin D is one of those nutritional supplements that you should take in capsule or drop form – at least in winter or when you belong to the group of people described above.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fatty acids are now part of our everyday life, at least as far as the appearance of the term in advertising, on egg boxes, in bread, and various other finished products.

If you eat a lot of bread, pasta, and baked goods as well as sweets, like plenty of sausages, quark, cheese, and pork and maybe prefer to handle sunflower oil, you can assume that the omega-3 fatty acids contained in the diet are by no means sufficient for you.

The foods described simply provide too many omega-6 fatty acids (linoleic and arachidonic acid). The desired omega-6-omega-3 ratio of 2 to 5: 1 can therefore rarely be achieved. On the contrary: Today’s ratio is – depending on personal nutrition – 17 to 50: 1, which means that 17 to 50 times more omega-6 fatty acids are absorbed than omega-3 fatty acids.

Such an imbalance is most likely involved in the now almost epidemic-like spread of chronic inflammation and disease. Because Omega 6 has an inflammatory effect (consumed in excess), but Omega 3 has an anti-inflammatory effect.

In order to quickly treat the imbalance, you should first check your diet and avoid the most unfavorable omega-6 sources (see list above). Instead of this, instead of pork schnitzel, occasionally include sea fish in your menu, choose coconut oil for roasting, hemp oil for dressing, and olive oil for vegetables.

If you eat dairy products, put a spoonful of linseed oil in curd cheese or yogurt and turn your usual snack into a valuable source of omega-3. Also try chia pudding from the tiny chia seeds, which are full of omega-3 fatty acids and provide you with more calcium than milk. However, grind the seeds before use! It is one of the best natural dietary supplements.

Probiotics

Probiotics are friendly bacteria that abound in a healthy gut. Most often, however, the term probiotics are used to refer to supplements that contain these friendly bacteria.

In the intestine, the friendly bacteria now take care that harmful bacteria and fungi do not take over and we feel good. Only when the good bacteria are decimated do we notice what we had on them when they were still there.

We become susceptible to infections, develop allergies or food intolerances, suffer from fungal diseases and skin problems, from flatulence and high cholesterol and, to make matters worse, we are still becoming fuller. All of these symptoms seem to be very different, but they can all have the same root cause: Dysbiosis.

Dysbiosis often arises as a result of an unfavorable diet that is very high in carbohydrates or high in fat and protein and low in fiber, which is also rich in processed foods and drinks (soft drinks, alcohol, coffee, etc.). It can also occur when taking antibiotics – whether for the treatment of a tooth problem, sinus infection, cystitis, or a completely different problem.

Antibiotics kill harmful bacteria, but unfortunately also the beneficial intestinal bacteria and thus create the conditions for dysbiosis and subsequent diseases. You should therefore better prevent it! If you have to take antibiotics, be sure to get yourself a high-quality probiotic.

Astaxanthin

Astaxanthin is an antioxidant dietary supplement. Antioxidants are naturally also in our food.

In everyday work and family life, it is not uncommon for the day to have far too few hours to deal with nutrition in detail. Breakfast may still be exemplary and consists of a delicious basic cereal made from flaked almonds, berries, bananas, and almond butter – sprinkled with nettle seeds and unpeeled hemp seeds.

For the second breakfast, you took a green smoothie to the office and everything is fine for the time being. But then lunch comes in the canteen, the cake, because of the colleague’s birthday. And in the evening the ready meal because you are just tired. If there is also infection or another health problem, the deficiency situation is preprogrammed.

Even in normal, stress-free everyday life, we need as many antioxidants as we can hardly ingest with our food. With constant mental stress or even overload and especially with illness, we are absolutely dependent on high-quality nutritional supplements. You can protect us in such extreme situations, namely when we ourselves have neither the time nor the strength.

Nature has created astaxanthin especially for extreme situations: it makes short work of free radicals that want to damage your cells. It increases stress resistance, inhibits chronic inflammation, relieves joint pain, protects the heart, and makes the skin resistant to sunlight.

Aronia Berries

Another highly potent antioxidant and at the same time holistic nutritional supplement is the Aronia berry. The deep blueberry is the fruit with one of the highest known anthocyanin contents.

Anthocyanins are phytochemicals with a fantastic effect. They relieve inflammation, thin the blood, and inhibit the development of cancer cells.

The cancer-inhibiting effect of the Aronia berry, for example, was shown in a study in which an Aronia extract was able to reduce the growth of colon cancer cells by 50 percent in just two days.

If you take the Aronia berry (e.g. as juice) to accompany chemotherapy, Aronia protects the liver and stomach and thus alleviates numerous side effects.

Since Aronia can also protect against damage from radiation, it is a reliable companion for radiation therapies and even in summer, when the skin must be protected from the consequences of UV radiation, the Aronia berry should at least be taken as a dietary supplement.

Aronia can be easily integrated into everyday life. You either eat the dried Aronia berry in the muesli or (previously soaked in water) in shakes or smoothies. Or you can drink a glass of Aronia juice daily as a dietary supplement. The Aronia berry can also be easily planted in the garden so that you can harvest your antioxidant berries yourself.

Bitter substances

Bitter substances have two specialties: the digestive system and the acid-base balance. It ensures that our digestive organs are doing well, that we digest our meals intensively, and thus can optimally utilize the nutrients they contain.

Bitter substances regulate gastric juice production, the formation of digestive juices in the pancreas, and promotes healthy bile flow. It also supports our detoxification organ no. 1, the liver, and ensures that their detoxification performance is increased and cholesterol levels can be reduced. It helps to leave the widespread sugar addiction behind and to develop an appetite for healthy food again.

Foods with bitter substances are a prime example of extremely healthy foods, but unfortunately, hardly anyone likes it. Or what do you think of dandelion salad, mugwort tea, yarrow juice, and juniper berries?

Get used to it again slowly. Eat more chicory, endive salad, and coleslaw. Integrate your own picked dandelion leaves into your salads and green smoothies more and more often. Also use bitter spices such as cardamom, caraway, fennel, ginger, cloves, and cinnamon.

You don’t have time for cooking or picking dandelions?

You could take bitter substances in the form of nutritional supplements. Unfortunately, you cannot avoid the bitter taste. It has a much stronger effect if they can already send their signals through the oral mucosa. We don’t recommend its capsules.

On the other hand, a bitter base powder made from herbs and spices rich in it such as B. yarrow, anise, fennel, mugwort, juniper berries, etc. You can make a tea from it or – what would be much better – take it several times a day (always a few minutes before meals).

The dandelion root extract is also suitable. Herbal bitters are also very easy to use. Only a few drops of it are diluted in water several times a day. Bitter substances are ideally taken before eating.

And never forget: bitter substances are often the most urgently needed by those who most strongly resist them!

Incidentally, it is also abundant in grasses. You don’t eat grass? Then it is high time!

Grass juices

Grasses are the most natural dietary supplements you will ve find. Basically, you don’t have to eat the grass, but you should drink it. With grass drinks from cereal grasses, such as. B. Wheatgrass juice or barley grass juice can achieve so much for your wellbeing with little effort that it is not worth doing without.

If you only think of the benefits of the bitter substances it contains and also thinks of all the positive effects of chlorophyll (the green plant pigment), then these two points should be enough to motivate you to enjoy a grass drink twice a day.

Chlorophyll detoxifies, protects against cancer, eliminates bad body odors, cleanses the blood, and accelerates the regeneration after illness, to name only the most important properties of chlorophyll.

Grass drinks are also highly basic and therefore support any deacidification or any other effort that aims to achieve a balanced acid-base balance. Incidentally, no one has to drink grass drinks straight. Simply mix the grass powder in your green smoothie, in a freshly squeezed orange juice, in almond milk or – if you prefer warm and hearty – in a slightly cooled vegetable broth.

Magnesium

Magnesium is the animator in your body. The mineral keeps your enzymes going and ensures that they perform their tasks and functions perfectly. Green leafy vegetables, amaranth, oats, pumpkin seeds, nuts, cocoa, legumes, and dried fruits are full of this mineral. How often do you eat these foods? Not so often?

Then you could assume that nothing is really active in your body because there is a lack of animators – i.e. magnesium.

Here are some effects of lack of magnesium:

  • Feeling exhausted and tired all-day
  • Cannot handle stressful situations
  • Skin problems
  • Leg cramps
  • Twitching eyes
  • Cravings
  • Gaining weight
  • Possibly suffering from chronic inflammatory problems.

But if you now take a closer look at the properties and effects of magnesium, it will fall from your eyes like dandruff. You will see that you need magnesium, urgently. Magnesium has an anti-inflammatory, blood sugar-regulating, bone density increasing, antispasmodic, weight regulating, and relaxing effect.

Algae

Algae grow in a natural way in the sea and in freshwater lakes. Seaweed is a fabulous spice and gives dishes its typical flavor. They go well with rice, vegetable dishes from the wok, but also in salads or avocado cream. But they are not a nutritional supplement in the classic sense – such as the freshwater algae Spirulina, Chlorella, and the Afa algae.

All three are among the greatest chlorophyll suppliers of all time and therefore give you the advantages of the green plant pigment already mentioned under 6. In addition, they provide valuable cell building blocks (unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins, and proteins) as well as a highly effective secondary plant and algae substances.

They have the following advantages:

  • Strengthen the immune system
  • Block cancer
  • Protect against infections
  • Ensure faster regeneration after physical exertion
  • Make stress loads more bearable
  • Ultimately help with physical detoxification.

The question of which of the three algae serves which purpose is of course interesting. To support mental performance, the brain, and the nervous system, Afa algae is beneficial. Chlorella is for detoxification and Spirulina for the general vitalization of the entire body. Natural dietary supplements are best than any other supplement.

Basically, however, none of the algae is better or worse than the other. You can simply alternate it’s consumption every three months.

The individual nutritional supplement

Every person has a different constitution, a different diet, a different way of life, and also different needs. As a result, not all dietary supplements are equally suitable for everyone. Consequently every person – depending on their current situation – has to decide which nutritional supplements they need right now.

The above nine nutritional supplements can be useful for almost everyone. But you can also choose the following supplements simply using them once a year as a cure:

Bentonite

Would you like to detoxify, care for your intestines, promote your intestinal flora, or get rid of the hangover as quickly as possible after a long party night? Then bentonite, the mineral earth, which absorbs toxins and harmonizes the intestinal environment, is very suitable. Drink one or two large glasses of water with every bentonite dose. Choose a bentonite brand that is certified as a medical device and therefore meets the highest quality standards.

Psyllium

Your digestion isn’t good? Then take a small spoonful of psyllium with one or two large glasses of water every morning.

Colon cleansing

Do you prefer the complete preventive package for your intestines, your intestinal flora, and your immune system? You should do colon cleansing one or two times a year.

Deacidification

Over a period of 4 to 12 weeks is the length of a deacidification program. The goal is to free the tissue of metabolic end products (slags). These slags block the supply and disposal of the cells and thus our vitality. The body then becomes able to optimally supply each of its cells with all the necessary nutrients and substances. This makes it to be able to fully discharge the cell waste from each individual cell. Cell functions are strengthened and the energy is regained.

Curcumin as a nutritional supplement

Curcumin – the active ingredient from Curcuma – has an anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and strengthens the liver. Read more about the exciting properties of curcumin here.

Sulforaphane as a food supplement

Sulforaphane is a phytochemical that is particularly high in broccoli and other cabbage vegetables. The substance has anti-cancer and anti-arthritis properties. Read more about it here: Broccoli sulforaphane – a natural remedy for cancer

Vitamin B complex for the skin

A high-quality vitamin B complex is very important for skin or nerves. In the case of gastrointestinal complaints or a strictly vegan diet, we also recommend checking the vitamin B12 level.

Protein powder as a dietary supplement

Do you love high-quality proteins? Are you in a stressful phase of life? Do you want to build muscle? Are you recovering from an illness? Is your diet particularly low in protein at the moment? Then take a vegetable protein powder, such as lupine protein, rice protein, hemp protein, pea protein, or a protein mixture.

Dietary supplements are important but the best supplement is always the natural supplements.
